Organic sunflower oil
The oil-rich organic sunflower seeds which are grown by farmers including Gerry and Marie De Ruyck of De Ruyck’s Organic Farm near Swan Lake, Manitoba are processed into certified organic cold-pressed sunflower oil by the farmers at Ploughshares Community Farm.
Located on the banks of the Brokenhead River, southeast of Beausejour, Manitoba, this is a 140 acre jointly owned and diversely mixed farm which keeps cattle, milk goats, chickens and honey bees.
The farm is very involved with the Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) vegetable gardening program with weekly and bi-weekly pick-ups in Beausejour, Pinawa and St. Vital, as well as the Beausejour Farmers’ Market on Friday evenings from July through September.
Ploughshares organic sunflower oil contact, David Braun delivers the sunflower oil in large containers, as well as 500 ml bottles to Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company, Grass Roots Prairie Kitchen and his other customers.
“I love the authenticity of the sunflower, from the earth beneath us and reaching for the sky. It provides us with a beautiful and nourishing oil, a promise of sustainability and wholesomeness,” says David.
